Trial Products for Blesta: setting up a free trial Print

1. Add a $0 trial term to the package

Edit the package in Packages > Packages and add a pricing row such as 14 Days @ 0.00, next to your normal paid terms (for example 1 Month @ 5.00).

Leave "Do not renew, cancel at the end of the initial term" unticked. That setting applies to every term on the package, and the plugin handles the trial's end itself.

2. Map it in Trial Products

Go to Packages > Trial Products > Add Trial Term and choose:

  • Trial Term: the $0 term clients order to start the trial
  • Paid Term: the term the service moves to (must be on the same package)
  • When the Trial Ends: Convert to paid keeps the service on the paid term; Cancel ends it with no charge
  • Limit to one trial per client: stops the same client account using the trial twice
  • Repeat Trial Orders: what happens if a client who already used the trial orders it again

3. Put the package on an order form

Clients order the trial term like any other term.

What happens next

  1. Blesta issues a $0.00 invoice, closes it, and activates the service as normal.
  2. The plugin then either moves the service to the paid term (keeping the renewal date at the end of the trial) or schedules a cancellation for the end of the trial.
  3. The client gets a "trial started" email, a reminder a few days before the end, and an email when the trial converts or ends.

What clients see

A banner on the client Dashboard and Services pages shows each running trial, with a Manage Trial button. On My Free Trials they can choose Cancel at End of Trial (convert trials) or Keep It (cancel trials).

Settings

At the bottom of the Trial Products page, set the Staff Notification Email(s) for repeat trial orders and the Trial Ending Reminder (days before the end; 0 turns reminders off). The eight email templates are under Settings > Company > Emails.
